Gondola

• Custom fit video

• Small circumference colorwork

• German Short rows

Gondola Pullover draws from the feeling of an old mountain lodge sweater, graphic colorwork, cozy evenings, and knitwear that feels right at home in everyday life. The bold geometric yoke sets the vibe, while the rest of the sweater has a modern wearable silhouette.

Knit in DK weight yarn, the fabric has clear stitch definition that lets the motif stand out while staying comfortable for daily wear. The colorwork returns at the cuffs for a balanced finish and you can knit the body cropped or longer to suit your style.

Design Details

The yoke features a geometric colorwork motif that can be worked with two or three contrast colors depending on the look you want. After the yoke, the body transitions into easy stockinette so the colorwork remains the focal point.

Proportions are simple and flexible. The hem length can be adjusted as you knit and the sleeve cuffs echo the yoke pattern for a cute finish.

Pattern Highlights

  • Seamless, top down construction

  • Graphic geometric colorwork yoke

  • Sleeve cuffs that mirror the yoke motif

  • Adjustable body length

Construction Overview

Gondola Pullover is worked seamlessly from the top down in the round. The neckline begins in the round with short row shaping across the back neck.

After completing the colorwork yoke, the body and sleeves are separated and the body is worked straight to your preferred length and finished with ribbing.

Sleeves are picked up at the armholes and worked in the round. The colorwork motif is repeated at the cuffs for a balanced finish.

Yarn Notes

We knit our sample in Sugarplum Circus Charlotte DK, a plump superwash merino that shows colorwork cleanly and keeps the stitches crisp and readable.

Colorwork sweaters benefit from yarns with clear stitch definition and solid or tonal colorways so the motif remains sharp and visible.
