Design Details

The v-neck is the moment. Deep enough to feel a little sexy, finished with ribbing and a center detail that pulls it all together. The shoulders fit so beautifully, the body is relaxed and easy, and the optional split hem at the hip adds a modern touch.

It's the tee you reach for without thinking, a real wardrobe workhorse to knit now and wear forever.

Construction Overview

Alchemist Tee is worked seamlessly from the top down. The yoke begins flat with shoulder shaping and v-neck shaping, using a contiguous method that creates set-in-sleeve style shaping without any seaming.

Once the yoke is complete, stitches are split for the sleeves and the body is joined to work in the round. The body is worked in stockinette down to the hem, finished with a split hem in 2x2 ribbing.

Sleeves are picked up and worked in the round in stockinette, finished in matching 2x2 ribbing.

Short and long sleeve instructions are both included. The neckline is finished by picking up stitches and working a 2x2 ribbed v-neck collar with a beautiful center detail.

Yarn Notes

We knit our sample in Plies and Hellhounds Nectar Fingering Weight in Moonseed, a merino-yak-silk blend with beautiful drape and a subtle sheen that really suits the stockinette.

Colorway: Moonseed Fiber: 60% Superwash Merino, 20% Yak, 20% Silk Yardage: 400 yds (366 m) per 100g skein

Any fingering weight yarn with good drape will work beautifully here, wool or wool-blend recommended. Tonal and solid colorways show the v-neckline and shoulder shaping best. Heavily variegated or self-striping yarns may compete with the construction details.

US 3 (3.25 mm) double pointed needles or magic loop for neckline and sleeve cuffs

US 4 (3.5 mm) 16–40" circular needles for body and sleeves

26 sts x 34 rows = 4" x 4" in stockinette, flat and in the round, wet blocked

Finished Measurements

Alchemist Tee is designed for 4–8" (10–20 cm) of positive ease at the bust.

To choose your size:

1. Measure your full bust.

2. Add 4–8"

3. Choose the pattern size that matches that number.

Example: If your bust is 42", choose: 46" for a closer fit 50" for a very relaxed fit through the body and upper arm
