Flower Child Cardigan
The spirit of Flower Child returns as a cozy cardigan. Lace blossoms across the yoke, bobbles form little flower buds, and a vintage-inspired picot collar frames the neckline. It carries the same charm as the original pullover while feeling right at home layered over everyday clothes.
Worked seamlessly from the top down in DK-weight yarn, Flower Child Cardigan is an easy piece to reach for. Buttoned up or worn open, it has that familiar handmade feel with a vintage vibe.
Design Details
The circular yoke features leafy lace and bobble details that radiate from the neckline and settle naturally into smooth stockinette. The picot collar sits softly at the neck and the button band blends cleanly into the front of the garment, giving the cardigan a finished look without feeling formal.
Top-down knitting makes it simple to adjust both body and sleeve length, so you can tailor the proportions to your own wardrobe.
Pattern Highlights
Lace yoke with bobble details and picot collar
Buttoned cardigan that layers easily over everyday outfits
Adjustable sleeve and body length
DK-weight fabric that knits quickly and wears comfortably
Construction Overview
Flower Child Cardigan is knit seamlessly from the top down with a circular lace yoke. After the yoke is complete, stitches are divided and the body is worked flat in stockinette. The hem is finished with 2x2 ribbing and a sewn bind-off.
Sleeves are picked up and knit in the round with matching ribbing. The button band is worked along the front edges with integrated buttonholes, and the collar is picked up last and finished with a folded picot edge.
Yarn Notes
We knit our sample in Made by Hailey Bailey Classic DK, a 100% superwash merino that balances softness and structure. The yarn highlights the lace clearly while keeping the fabric comfortable for daily wear.
Yardage: 231 yd / 211 m per 100 g skein
Any DK-weight yarn with good stitch definition will work well. Tonals and soft solids especially highlight the yoke details.
