Ridgeline Vest is a chic little waistcoat, worked bottom-up in allover ribbing for a sleek, tailored silhouette with clean lines and beautiful texture. It layers easily over tees, dresses, and tanks, making it an easy favorite for transitional weather.

We used Katia Cotton-Merino for a soft yet structured feel that gives the fabric gorgeous shape and drape. This is a garment that holds its own, lightweight but shapely, textured but minimal.

Construction Overview

Ridgeline is knit seamlessly from the bottom up in 1x1 ribbing with a tidy i-cord selvedge. We recommend casting on with a smaller needle to avoid flare at the hem. After splitting for the underarm, you’ll shape each front separately before working the back last and finishing with a clean 3-needle bind-off at the shoulders.

Short rows add subtle shaping at the shoulders, and three buttonholes offer styling options for a modern waistcoat look.

Hot tip for crisp ribbing: A gentle tug after every knit—and especially every purl—can really clean up your stitches. No overthinking required.

Why You'll Love It

  • Sleek silhouette: Allover ribbing creates structure with flexibility.

  • Smart layering: Designed to throw over just about anything.

  • Minimalist texture: A modern wardrobe staple with just the right detail.

  • Button up (or not): Optional buttonholes let you style it your way.
