Snowdrop Hat

• Work cables without cable needles

• Crochet bobble

• Wrap stitch

• Finishing the crown

Snowdrop Hat is a cozy cable and bobble hat designed as the companion to Snowdrop Mittens, creating a textured winter set that’s classic and playful.

Knit in the round from brim to crown, this one skein project has engaging texture and a clean finish. The fabric is warm and soft with good structure, and the finished hat can be styled folded for a snug fit or worn unfolded for a relaxed look.

Design Details

The cable and bobble motif creates a softly sculpted fabric that stands out even in simple, solid color yarns. A twisted rib brim gives the hat a clean edge and helps it stay comfortably in place.

Both charted and written instructions are included so you can knit the way you prefer. The shaping flows naturally into the crown for a smooth finish.

Construction Overview

Snowdrop Hat is worked in the round from the brim to the crown.

It begins with 2x1 twisted ribbing, then transitions into the cable and bobble pattern. Crown shaping is worked within the stitch pattern and finished by drawing the yarn through the remaining stitches to close.

No seaming required.

Yarn Notes

We knit our sample in West Wool Tandem DK

100% South American Merino Wool

254 yards (232 m) per 100g skein

This yarn strikes a great balance of softness and structure. It keeps the cables crisp and defined while still feeling comfortable against the skin. The round, plump strand makes the bobbles pop and gives the hat a satisfying, substantial feel. It softens and blooms beautifully with blocking.

Any DK weight wool with clear stitch definition will work well.
