Design Details

The circular yoke is shaped with increases that frame the dip stitch motif and keep the texture balanced across all sizes. After the yoke, the sweater transitions into reverse stockinette worked inside out, so you’re knitting instead of purling round after round.

The mohair strand does much of the visual blending. It softens contrast, connects colors, and gives the fabric its characteristic depth.

Construction Overview

Sorrel is worked seamlessly from the top down.

The sweater begins at the neckline and the yoke is worked in the round with dip stitch texture and increase shaping. After separating sleeves, the body is worked in reverse stockinette to the desired length and finished with ribbing.

Sleeves are picked up and worked in the round. The neckline is finished after the body and sleeves are complete.

Yarn Notes

Sorrel is worked by holding one strand fingering weight sock yarn with one strand laceweight mohair silk

The sock yarn keeps the dip stitch texture clear and defined while the mohair creates softness and a gentle halo. The combination naturally blends color transitions, which makes fades and stash combinations very forgiving.

Four color fades, tonals, speckles, or a single color all work beautifully.
